The Last Day

That Last Day
(C) Rabbi Menachem Creditor

With gratitude for what Camp Ramah has meant in my life, and in the life of my parents and children

That last day,
when bleary-eyed life-long friends
(you met 4 weeks ago)
gather with tears to say goodbye...

That day lives deep in the hearts
of the grown-ups
packing their grown-up cars
with grown-up baggage
instead of the beat-up duffles
and makeshift garbage-bag luggage
they once knew.

Wouldn't it be wonderful
to just let the grown baggage. go for a while,
and let our deepest concerns
be our new life-long friends?

That's the magic we touch miss
when we reenter "the real world."

Here's to bringing some of the magic back with us...
...till next summer.
